- $1.976 million awarded to support 52 traineeships across regional WA

Western Australia’s rural and regional workforce will receive a skills boost, with the McGowan Government supporting 52 traineeships across the State.
Grants of up to $38,000 per trainee have been awarded to Community Resource Centres (CRC) and small regional local government authorities to support vocational training and to provide traineeship opportunities in small communities.
The new positions will add to the 225 trainee placements created throughout the regions since the Regional Traineeship Program launched in 2018.
This year’s funding, totalling $1.976 million, will support traineeships across the fields of information technology, aged care, business administration, marketing, library and information services, tourism, irrigation, horticulture, early childhood care, ranger and community services.
The program is delivered through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

“For example, the Beacon Central CRC will partner with the local Silver Chain Health Centre to support a Certificate in Aged Care Work traineeship, which will assist seniors in the Central East Aged Care Alliance housing in their community.
“This funding round saw increased interest in information technology, community services and business administration positions, reflecting the evolving demand of local businesses and the community.”
